2020 Goals, let's do this.

2020. A new year and a new decade. Something felt a little different about this new start to the year, and I’m feeling very motivated. I’ve seen a lot of people sharing posts around sharing goals and the year ahead, and it inspired me to share my own. So I took some time this past weekend to really think about what I’d like to achieve this year and wanted to share some of my goals. Not only did I think putting them out there might make me more determined to achieve them, but it also gives me somewhere to look back on when December rolls around. After a slightly rocky 2019, I’m ready to draw a line and start a fresh. (As I said, I’m really feeling the new year motivation this time around, so I’m rolling with it).

I’ve split the sections into health, hobbies, finances and travel. There are some other things I’ve set goals for, but the ones I’ve noted down are the ones I’d like to focus on mainly.

2020 diary

Health.

I’ve put health as my main focus for this year as it’s something I really want to work on. As I get older, it’s certainly becoming more of a priority for me. So I’ve told myself that this is the year I invest time into making it part of my everyday. This includes walking as much of my commute as I can, making the most of walking through the park in the mornings. I also really want to focus on running this year. I fall in and out of love with it, but when I’m on a good streak with it I feel so much better for it. This year I’d love to complete another half marathon, and have already entered a couple of ballots so fingers crossed I get to do another one this year.

  1. Build up a regular exercise routine.
  2. Walk as much as I can during my commute.
  3. Get into yoga and stretch my body more.
  4. Run a half marathon.
  5. Start taking more vitamins and supplements.

Hobbies.

At the end of last year I felt so motivated when it came to wanting to get back into blogging and Youtube. I finally managed to edit and upload my first vlog (our trip to NYC) and loved the whole process. I loved learning something new, and playing around on Premier Pro. I think I’d forgotten how much I do love the whole process of learning and developing a skill. I’d love to focus on developing my hobbies more this year, which include photography and video editing.

  1. Regularly upload to my blog.
  2. Film and edit more Youtube videos.
  3. Spend time getting better at photography.
  4. Spend time on an offline hobby to switch off.
  5. Dedicate some time learning new skills.

Financial.

I’ll be the first one to admit I’m not the best when it comes to money. However this is the year I’d like to work on my financial health, as I’ve certainly come to realise the importance of it as I get older. After my unplanned 6 weeks off work last year, it was a wake up call to say the least about the importance of having savings in place. My main aims this year is to end the year with a healthy savings pot and also just be more mindful when it comes to spending in general.

  1. Commit to saving a set amount each month.
  2. Save money where I can (lunches and hot drinks etc).
  3. Reduce how much shopping I do.
  4. Be more mindful of how I spend money.
  5. Stick to monthly budgets.

Travel.

I was extremely lucky to visit so many places last year, and I don’t think this is the year I’ll be topping that. However I still want to try and see a few places and have some in mind. I don’t think I’ll be able to make it to all of them, but if I can tick a couple off the list I’ll be happy! I’m also making more of an effort to see some UK cities so hopefully I can do that this year.

  3. Berlin
  4. Bath
  5. Ibiza (take me back).
