This post is a bit behind my intended schedule, (oops) but I still wanted to share a round up of my trip to NYC back in April. We were there for around 5 days, over the Easter weekend, so managed to squeeze in a lot of sightseeing, eating and chilling which was nice! I’ve already put together my hotel highlights post on where we stayed, which you can find here. However I wanted to put together a quick overview of our trip. I’ve also put together a little video of our trip, which I’ve popped at the end of the post, so enjoy!
We had a lot on our list, but one of the places I really wanted to spend some time in was Central Park. Luckily we had a couple of days with sunshine, which have us the perfect chance to spend some time taking it all in. Honestly could have spent so much longer just walking around! Another highlight was the Top of the Rock, we made sure to get there super early one morning to beat the crowds and make the most of the better weather. It was a bit pricey to go up. However we did so much that was either free or really affordable during our trip that we didn’t mind spending a bit more for this. I’d recommend looking ahead at the weather though, as you want to make sure you get a good views for your $$$. We also managed to get tickets to go up the Vessel which I loved! It’s free to do so, you just have to get some tickets from a stand near by. I loved climbing up and taking in the sights, and also loved the area as it’s near the high line, another thing I wanted to tick off my list! And then obviously, there was the Brooklyn Bridge. It was quite busy, however the earlier you get there the better! We actually did this a couple of times I loved it so much.
Eats and treats.
Of course we ate a lotttt, in fact Rachel made a very detailed map of all the places we needed to go to and we managed to cover most of them over the five days. Some of the highlights included milk & cream (ice cream) which was insane, the cookie dough was my favourite! Also the bagels from the The Brooklyn Store in Brooklyn were so good and it ended up being our favourite place to grab breakfast! The rainbow bagels are so fun and kept us going whilst exploring. Also a shout out the NYC pizza, like the ones we picked up from Joe’s pizza, so easy to grab and go and super tasty!
The best bit about being in NYC is just walking around and finding new areas to explore. It’s free and a great way to enjoy being in the city. As we were staying in Williamsburg, it was great to be able to explore more of Brooklyn, and I really enjoyed exploring this Williamsburg. There’s honestly so much to see and do (and amazing places to eat) and I loved how it felt different to being in Manhattan. Felt a lot more chilled and relaxed! We were quite lucky to be staying not to far away from the subway, which meant we could get around the city fairly easily and quickly. Our favourite thing to do was to try and walk around as much as possible, just soaking it all in! I already feel like I need to book in another visit as there’s just so much more I want to see.
